Good Student Housing? Look At Your Roommates

If you are the average college student living in student housing, you have probably dealt with your fair share of crappy roommates. Believe it or not, your roommates can turn a good living situation into a bad on really fast. So, you might be asking what you should look for when seeking student housing in relation to your potential roommates. Well, there are definitely a few things to be on the lookout for.
First, when you are looking into student housing, take a good detailed tour of every apartment that you are considering. Open the fridge, is there food? Is it old? Open the cabinets, are there clean dishes? Try to poke your head into the bedrooms and see if they are a mess or if they are clean and tidy. These are sure signs of good roommates.
Second, what is the common living area looking like? If you see three Nintendos and a plasma tv and you are not a gamer, these probably aren’t the roommates for you. Try to assess the situation and see if their likes are your likes. You want to fit the with apartment and their activities if you are looking for a pleasurable experience.
Lastly, try to meet every potential roommate in person before you make a decision. I know this may be hard due to everyones hectic schedule, but you might have to do some work to meet everyone on their schedules. Once you meet each person, you will have a pretty good idea of you will be able to live with each person in the apartment.
Remember, you are here to live and go to school. If you don’t find excellent student housing that fits you and what you are trying to accomplish, you will be miserable, your studies will suffer, and you will be pretty depressed.
Three Things To Look For When Hunting For Student Housing

Quality student housing can be hard to find. No one wants to have crappy living conditions while going to school. If you strive to live by these three rules when searching out student housing, you can be guaranteed to find a great place for you and your friends or family to live.
First, have a look at the carpet. The first sign of a good apartment is in the carpet! If it is rundown and old and looks like it is from the sixties, it’s probably not the best student housing in the area. If the carpet is new and up to date, it is going to be a safe bet for you.
Second, you should have a look at the paint in the apartment. Make sure that it is fresh and looks clean. If you find that the paint looks dingy, has hand and foot marks on it, or some really ugly, old wallpaper, then you should probably turn around and leave that student housing development.
Third, go through the cabinets in the apartment. Have a look at the dishes and the utensils. A sure sign of a trashy apartment is old, broken dishes. I have even seen student housing that has had no dishes at all. Being a student is hard enough, having to bring your own dishes into an apartment is not a fun thing.
Make sure you do your research, look around, and don’t fall in love with the first place you find.
How To Find Good Student Housing

Student housing, if you are coming to school from out of state, you most likely end up having to live in student housing. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, per say, but there are better places to live than others. I’ve seen my fair share of BAD student apartments, ones that I thought I might pick up the plague in. Living in these places is no fun and if you are trying to get girls to come over and hang… I think not!
This is why it is imperative that you seek out good places to live when researching student housing around your college or university. So, how do you find a good, quality place to live when going to school? A lot of times, the college or university you will be attending will have a list of local apartments or student housing that is available. I say that if a school is endorsing a particular living environment, it is probably a pretty safe bet. But, if you are still hesitant, you can do a Google search for the name of the apartment complex and see if anyone has given it poor reviews or sometimes you can even find some pictures. This will definitely help you make your decision.
You can also look on Facebook. Ever since Facebook launched their marketplace, I have seen countless ads for student housing around the local colleges and universities in my area. 99% of the time it comes with pictures and descriptions. You can also check the local classifieds if you still need some ideas.
All in all, in order to have a great college experience away from home, you are gonna need a nice place to live! Student housing can be a bust sometimes, but with proper research and planning, you can have a living pad that even your mother would approve of.
